What is Filecompress.app?
Filecompress.app is a free, browser-based suite of file conversion and compression tools. Every operation — compressing images, converting PDFs, resizing photos — happens entirely on your device. Nothing is ever sent to a server.
We built this because we were tired of file tools that force you to create an account, upload your private files to unknown servers, and show you intrusive ads. So we made the alternative.
Our Core Principles
- Privacy by design — your files never leave your browser. Period.
- Zero accounts required — open the site, use the tools, close the tab. That's it.
- No file size limits — processing happens locally, so we don't pay for bandwidth. Use any file size you need.
- Always free — core tools will always be free. We sustain the project through optional premium features and non-intrusive ads.
- Works offline — once the page loads, tools work without an internet connection.
What Can You Do Here?
We currently offer 60+ tools across several categories:
- Image Tools — compress, resize, convert, crop, remove background, and more.
- PDF Tools — convert PDF to Word/Excel/Image, merge, split, and compress PDFs.
- Video Tools — convert video formats, compress videos, extract audio, and create GIFs.
- More Tools — ZIP compression, font conversion, and a growing list of utilities.
Technology
All tools are built with plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Heavy lifting is done by well-tested open-source libraries like jsPDF and the browser's native Canvas API — all running client-side. No Node.js servers, no databases, no cloud storage.
The site is hosted on a global CDN (Vercel / Netlify) for fast load times worldwide, but the CDN only serves static assets — your files never touch it.
