At Filecompress.app, your privacy is the foundation of everything we build. This policy explains what data we collect (very little), how we use it, and your rights.
1. Files You Process
All file processing — compression, conversion, resizing, cropping — happens entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to our servers. We have no access to them, cannot see them, and do not store them.
2. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information to operate and improve the service:
- Usage analytics — anonymised page views and tool usage counts (no personal identifiers). We use these to understand which tools are popular.
- Error logs — anonymous JavaScript error reports to help us fix bugs.
- Feedback submissions — if you voluntarily send feedback via our feedback form, we receive your name, email address, and message.
We do not collect: IP addresses linked to identities, file names or contents, device fingerprints, or any information from third-party accounts.
3. Cookies & Local Storage
We use minimal cookies for analytics (see our Cookie Policy). We may use localStorage to remember your last-used settings (output format, quality preference) entirely on your device.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Fonts — served from Google's CDN for typography.
- Analytics provider — anonymised, cookieless analytics (no personal data shared).
- CDN (Vercel / Netlify) — static file hosting; they may log standard HTTP request metadata.
5. Advertising
We may show non-intrusive display ads to sustain the free service. Ad networks may set their own cookies; you can opt out via your browser's cookie settings or an ad blocker.
6. Data Retention
Feedback emails are retained for up to 12 months. Anonymised analytics data is retained for up to 24 months. No file data is ever retained because it never reaches us.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access, rectify, or delete any personal data we hold about you (limited to feedback submissions). To exercise these rights, email us at support@filecompress.app.
8. Children
Filecompress.app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
